“Astawa And Aditya Are Annoyed At” (A6) is a weekly video series of rants about things Aditya and I are annoyed at in the world of entrepreneurship and startups. Connect with me on LinkedIn for past video!

Let’s get one thing straight: just because you’re “your own boss” does not mean you’re better than someone working a 9–5 office job.

On this journey of building out our ventures, Aditya Chugh and I have had the privilege of meeting numerous talented and driven entrepreneurs.

Unfortunately, some of these “entrepreneurs” are from the school of thought that believes that anyone not building an ambitious business is less than those who are.

The goal shouldn’t be to have a glamorous title. The goal should be to do meaningful and fulfilling work, irrespective of one’s position or stature.

Additionally, not everyone has the luxury of dropping everything and building out that crazy idea they have. For these people, there are two paths Aditya and I would recommend:

1) Intrapreneurship. Some of today’s most successful ventures once started out as small, employee-led projects within a company. Look to become part of a company that fosters a culture of creativity and enables you to try out different initiatives.

2) Start a side-hustle! You don’t need to spend 100% of your time on that idea. Instead, block off a few hours a week to start building and experimenting. If you start to see some traction, that might be a good indication of your side-hustle’s potential to become a business.

Slow And Steady

Entrepreneurship doesn’t have to be as scary as people make it seem. I encourage you to begin your entrepreneurial journey by starting small. Take a few steps each day. Before you know it, you might just be sprinting on a brand new journey.

What are you annoyed at this week in the world of entrepreneurship and startups? Tweet at me or Aditya and let us know!
